Juzcar is a small village in the province of Málaga, Spain. It is known for its unique blue-painted houses, which were originally painted blue as part of a promotional campaign for the Smurfs movie in 2011.
The village was chosen by Sony Pictures to become the first Smurf village in the world, and as part of the promotion, all the buildings in the village were painted blue. The promotion was supposed to be temporary, but the people of Juzcar voted to keep the blue paint on their houses as it had brought tourism and economic benefits to the area. Today, Juzcar is a popular tourist destination, known for its distinctive blue architecture and beautiful mountain scenery.
Now there is a small rush of visitors every weekend (between 12:00 and 14:00). The drive to Juzcar alone is worth seeing. You should park the car at the entrance to the village and explore the small community of 250 souls on foot.
It is actually an excursion for children, who should of course visit the mushroom museum. Since Ronda is not far away, you can combine a visit to Juzca with a visit to Ronda. During the week there is actually not much going on here.
